It is situated in “Costa del Maresme”, between the Mediterranenan Sea and Barcelona's Sierra Litoral, it has been a traditional fishing town for long time, this place combines its artistic heritage and its beautiful beaches with many recreational activities.

This place is very well-known because of its defense towers, the ones which still standing today are the towers called "En Llobet" and "Carrer Ample"; the Municipal Market and the cemetery with modernist funeral sculptures, are examples of the Modernist style this culture, which is also present in Arenys de Mar.

It has been for long time, the unique existing port on the north coast of Barcelona, this place is the greatest proof of the long history of Barcelon and seafaring tradition of the village. The beaches surrounded by hills which run right down to the sea giving a preview of Costa Brava.

Their coarse grained sand beaches are large and exceptionally beautiful, however, if you prefer shade instead of sun, strolling along the Lourdes Park is a nice and relaxing experience; the urban centre offers nice places to visit. The parish church of Santa Maria is one of them which has one of the most important baroque reredos in Catalonia, along this Church Street are the Marés Museum of Lace-making and the Mollfulleda Museum of Mineralogy.

A stroll through both sides of the lower Riera awaits pleasant surprises, charming spots, beautiful houses and even the defense towers built for protection against pirates could be admired.
