Moving to Barcelona
Living in this city is both a dream and a privilege, in fact Spain is one of the most popular countries around the whole world for living or visiting after France of course and is considered the second most popular holiday destination in Europe.
RESIDENCY :All the people living in Spain by a lingering period of time are required to acquire their residence except those people coming from countries which keep historical ties with Spain, these people can obtain a permanent residence after only 2 years. People who get married to native Spain people also obtain their permanent residence immediately. If someone wants to process the Spanish residence in order to become Spanish citizen must go to the civil registration and apply for it, which means also that you have to renounce your country's citizenship.
DRIVING AND CARS: Any person who doesn't come from Spain is free for taking their own cars to that country for less than 6 months in any year. If that period is exceeded those people is considered a Spain resident, they must process their residence and then register their vehicle with the local authorities in order to obtain Spanish number plates.
Bank accounts: Any foreign person is able to open a non-resident bank account in Barcelona, to do this you just have to have your own NIE (Foreigner Identification Number). A non-resident account, however, has its limitations. Overdraft and credit card facilities may not be available for those kind of accounts. It is possible to open a normal bank account once you have obtained the residency in Spain, this account can offer to you the same services as available to resident Spaniards.
