Ribera Quarter Itinerary

This is another neighborhood different from the gothic quarter is located in one of the oldest areas of the city, where there are many of medieval buildings. The neighborhood is divided into two districts Sant Pere and Santa Maria del Mar. This division was joined in the 14th century and became a finest city with many rich mansions that still stand in our times.

The itinerary starts at the Angel Square and then we go to the Santa Maria District, staring by the Santa Maria del Mar Square with an impressive façade, the church, two pictorial houses and a beautiful fountain. The church has a beautiful and pure gothic style.

Taking the left zone, we find the 17th century Palau Dalmases with a baroque and gothic style, the most remarkable of this building are its richly carved columns, balustrade and fine arches. Beside this we can see the House of the Trífora Tower, the Palau dels Marquesos de Llió, the Museu Tèxtil I d'Indumentàre and the Museu Picasso.

In Sant Pere District, we can see many Baroque structures such as the Palau de la Música Catalana which was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, its interior is decorated with floral themes and many mosaic figures.

The most amazing places that you cannot miss are:
  • Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar.
  • Museu Picasso.
  • Museu Barbier-Mueller d'Art Precolombí.
  • Fossar de les Moreres.
